About The Position

Under immediate supervision, performs common unskilled laboring work requiring physical strength aboard the vessels and facilities of the Staten Island Ferry. This role involves moving, lifting, and carrying items of various weights and sizes. The position may require operating motor vehicles, assisting with the relocation of materials and equipment, and maintaining work site premises to ensure safety and comfort standards. Additionally, the City Laborer may assist in minor repairs and related work.

Requirements

Possession of a Motor Vehicle Driver License valid in the State of New York.
Must pass a drug screening to be appointed.
Must either undergo a federal background check as part of the Transportation Worker Identification Credential (TWIC) program or already possess a TWIC.
Must obtain TWIC within 30 days of appointment and maintain it for the duration of employment.
Residency must be established within 90 days of appointment.
There are certain medical and physical requirements.

Nice To Haves

Possess a Class B Commercial Driver License (CDLB) valid in the State of New York with no restrictions.
