GDIT is looking for a Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer to support the virtualization of a variety of mission applications as part of the User Facing and Data Center Services Contract supporting the National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency systems. This role involves developing virtual packages for mission baseline applications that will be consumed by both VDI sessions and thick clients, including applications with plugins and advanced graphics requirements. The engineer will work with testers and SMEs to validate application behavior, incorporate sequencing changes, and identify user application settings that need to be persisted in a non-persistent VDI environment. The position also focuses on identifying automation opportunities for application sequencing, assisting the virtualization and VDI teams with infrastructure configuration, and improving backup/Disaster Recovery and Continuity of Operations. The role requires creating detailed written documentation, performing work with considerable latitude in technical objectives, troubleshooting and performance tuning with VMware software, and analyzing/applying security patches and software updates. A strong understanding of virtualization products and capabilities, the ability to apply them to changing program requirements, good work ethic, active desire to learn, skillful time management, and excellent communication skills are essential. The engineer will also create and maintain technical documentation, provide training, and handle incident resolution and software requests.
