About The Position

The Citrix Software Virtualization Engineer supports the virtualization and delivery of mission-critical applications within the User Facing and Data Center Services Contract for National Geospatial-Intelligence Agency (NGA) systems. This role is responsible for packaging, sequencing, testing, and deploying Windows applications across non-persistent VDI environments, virtual machines, and thick clients.

Requirements

  • Active Top Secret/SCI clearance.
  • DoD 8140.01 / 8570.01-M IAT Level II certification (e.g., Security+ CE, CySA+, SSCP).
  • 5+ years in systems administration and/or virtualization (or equivalent combination of education, training, and experience).
  • 3+ years of hands-on experience with VDI technologies (VMware Horizon, Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, or Microsoft RDS).
  • 2+ years of hands-on experience with application virtualization/packaging (Citrix XenApp, App-V, VMware App Volumes, or FlexApp).
  • Proven ability to package, sequence, troubleshoot, and deploy Windows applications in enterprise virtualized environments.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with PowerShell scripting and packaging automation.
  • Profile management experience (VMware DEM, Liquidware ProfileUnity).
  • Active Directory, Group Policy, and enterprise load-balancing experience.
  • Administration of Windows 10/11 and Windows Server 2012+.
  • VMware software-defined data center (SDDC) tuning and certifications (e.g., VCA-DCV).
  • Working knowledge of ITIL practices, ticketing systems (ServiceNow/Remedy), and TOGAF frameworks.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, sequence, test, and maintain virtualized mission applications with complex dependencies, plugins, and advanced graphics requirements.
  • Identify user settings (registry keys, AppData, configuration files) to ensure seamless persistence across non-persistent VDI sessions.
  • Troubleshoot, configure, and performance-tune Citrix, VMware, and VDI application delivery platforms; support backup, DR, and COOP capabilities.
  • Leverage PowerShell and scripting tools to automate packaging workflows. Analyze, test, and deploy security patches per program guidelines.
  • Work with application testers and mission SMEs to resolve compatibility issues. Author designs, test plans, SOPs, and operational guides while providing technical guidance to team members.
