Requirements

High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Previous customer service experience preferred.
Strong communication and organization skills.
Comfort with using and learning new technology as the Library continues to evolve.
Friendly, patient, and able to engage with people from varying cultural and economic backgrounds.
Organized, detail-oriented, and able to work with competing tasks and priorities.
Able to effectively communicate with staff and customers, and interact with the public in a consistent and friendly manner.
Flexible, positive, able to exercise sound independent judgment, and willing to work with colleagues to successfully overcome challenges.

Responsibilities

Provide reference assistance for customers via face-to-face and telephone interactions, including locating items in the catalog or on shelf, as well as, looking up information and making recommendations.
Restock and shelve materials, including shelf-reading, as necessary.
Assist in developing and removing displays.
Assist customers with obtaining library accounts and the check-out and return of materials.
Provide information regarding programs, events and other initiatives.
Provide assistance to customers with Library equipment.
Ensure customers are following library policies and help contribute to a safe environment.
