About The Position

Edmonton Public Library is looking for a fun, team-oriented and supportive membership ninja (aka Circulation Assistant) to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic membership ninja who enjoys working with the public in a challenging and fast-paced environment. At EPL, the mission is to share. Circulation Assistants are versatile and friendly people who want to make a difference in the community. They focus on providing excellent customer service, and orient new and returning customers to EPL membership services. They open new memberships, resolve questions, complete circulation duties and handle library materials. They are tech-savvy, curious and eager to share what they know with others.

Requirements

High School Diploma (or GED) is essential.
A minimum of one year's work experience in a library or an environment where customer service is a core focus.
Experienced in the use of Microsoft Office programs, web-based services and other applications.
A commitment to uphold the Canadian Library Association's position statements on Intellectual Freedom and Diversity and Inclusion.
Enthusiastic with the ability to provide effective customer service.
Demonstrated excellence in using communication and interpersonal skills.
Ability to contribute positively and work effectively within a team environment.
Effective and creative problem solving and trouble shooting skills.

Responsibilities

Help new Canadians find material to learn English.
Help customers download eBooks on their tablets.
Provide excellent customer service.
Orient new and returning customers to EPL membership services.
Open new memberships.
Resolve customer questions.
Complete circulation duties.
Handle library materials.
Assist customers with the use of technology, devices, information resources (print and electronic) and in the use of various service applications and web-based platforms.
