We are seeking an experienced and engaged individual to be part of the Knife River leadership team. This position is based out of a current Knife River location, ideally our headquarters in Bismarck, ND, with hybrid work opportunities available. We are seeking forward-thinking Chief Information Officer (CIO) / VP of IT to lead our technology strategy and operations. This executive role is responsible for aligning technology initiatives with business goals, driving digital transformation, and ensuring secure, scalable, and reliable systems across the organization. The ideal candidate is a strategic leader who can partner across the business, modernize technology environments, and deliver solutions that improve performance, efficiency, and growth.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Engineering, or related field
15+ years of progressive IT leadership experience, including senior-level roles
Proven success leading enterprise technology strategy and transformation
Strong knowledge of infrastructure, enterprise systems, and cybersecurity
Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

Experience supporting multi-site or distributed operations preferred
Knowledge of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, cloud platforms, automation, and IoT (as applicable)
