About The Position

Assists crime victims by informing victims of their rights and how to access them; explaining the criminal justice process in a clear and concise matter; providing crisis intervention and emotional support as necessary; identification and referral to appropriate community and social services. Provides information to all victim issue related telephone calls statewide by directly answering questions or referring request to the appropriate party after assessing problems and needs. Provides technical assistance to any social service, medical or law enforcement agency by assisting or developing services to assist crime victims by referring requests to the appropriate party, identify problem areas regarding victim issues within the state and legislative concerns based on incoming telephone contacts. Increase interagency collaboration by avoiding unnecessary transferring of telephone calls by thoroughly understanding all agency crime victim programs and directing calls to appropriate division when specific and/or confidential information is required. Maintains accurate data by documenting all incoming telephone contacts, the nature of the call and the ultimate outcome, tracks data and completes all necessary funding source reports and insures confidentiality of agency information. Affects implementation of policy by tracking problem issues and areas that could be identified for future policy and legislative initiatives. Must be able to exercise independent judgement when determining problem issues and areas. Maintains customer confidence and protects operations by keeping information confidential. Contributes to the team effort by accomplishing related results in a cooperative and collaborative manner.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related social service field or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Ability and proven experience in dealing with people in a crisis state.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and verbally.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks based on their critical nature.
  • Ability to maintain satisfactory working relationships with other employees and the general public.
  • Attendance is an essential function of this position.
