About The Position

The Conservatory Lab Foundation seeks a full-time Alumni Coordinator to join a four-person team focused on raising awareness and funds for the School, managing its external relations. This newly created position will primarily focus on building durable relationships with alumni, tracking their paths, sharing their achievements, and providing services to them and their families. The role involves assisting with the School's social media and website, providing event support to increase alumni engagement, and acting as a liaison to the Family Action Network (FAN). While explicit fundraising experience is less critical, a passion for the arts and a strong advocacy for students and alumni are essential. The ideal candidate will possess strong relationship-building skills, clarity in writing, and a collaborative spirit, embracing the joyful work culture.

Requirements

  • Strong written, research, and verbal communications skills.
  • Strong understanding of social media and some understanding of website maintenance.
  • Familiarity with social justice, music and the arts, and K-12 education.
  • Familiarity with Dorchester and the surrounding communities of Boston.
  • Ability to create or repurpose video content for social media and other outlets.
  • Experience working with local media, including writing press releases.
  • Experience in graphic design in traditional printing materials as well as branded merchandise.
  • Willingness to network in a variety of settings, including with government and corporate officials.
  • High energy, positive, can-do attitude, flexibility and teamwork.
  • The ability to appropriately deal with competing deadlines and expectations.
  • Facilitation of emerging technologies, donor databases, and online giving platforms.
  • Ability to connect and communicate with middle school students and recent alumni.

Nice To Haves

  • An alum of Conservatory Lab or a Boston-area charter school would be a terrific fit, though not required.

Responsibilities

  • Gather and analyze data on alumni, maintaining a database of former students.
  • Collaborate with the School's registrar on the unenrollment process, including providing alumni with email accounts.
  • Liaise with secondary schools attended by alumni, maintaining relationships and designing surveys.
  • Assist families with applications for post-Conservatory Lab schools.
  • Leverage resources like the National Student Clearinghouse to track alumni enrollment in post-secondary education.
  • Build an Alumni Association and foster a culture of belonging.
  • Curate online and in-person events for alumni.
  • Inform current students about alumni resources.
  • Connect students with professional mentors and industry professionals.
  • Identify and provide resources such as scholarships and music lessons that alumni desire.
  • Identify and provide community resources for alumni's families.
  • Serve as the Foundation's primary storyteller for alumni and the Conservatory Lab experience.
  • Establish relationships with current middle school students by attending school events.
  • Build relationships with School administrators and teachers to identify needs and understand programming.
  • Provide content for social media, blog posts, and the website based on interactions with alumni.
  • Maintain the current alumni page on the website.
  • Act as a liaison to the Family Action Network (FAN), assisting families with community events and fundraising.
  • Support the School's Registrar in student recruitment efforts, including developing marketing materials and attending recruitment events.
  • Support the School and Foundation staff with family-centric communications, including social media, email, direct mail, and website updates.
