About The Position

The CI Engineer leads implementation and sustainment of a Lean Production System to improve safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, and flow across manufacturing operations. The role partners with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, and front-line employees to identify and eliminate waste, reduce variation, improve labor efficiency, and establish repeatable production processes. It applies Lean methods such as value stream mapping, standard work, takt time and line balancing, 5S, visual management, daily management, Kaizen, PDCA/A3 problem solving, SMED, and Total Productive Maintenance. The engineer develops performance standards, facilitates improvement events, coaches teams in Lean thinking, and uses data to verify measurable, sustainable results. Success requires analytical and facilitation skills, practical manufacturing knowledge, disciplined problem solving, effective change leadership, and the ability to drive cross-functional actions to closure. Ingenia Technologies, part of SPX Technologies’ HVAC Segment, designs and manufactures highly engineered custom air handling solutions for life sciences and other mission-critical applications. The role works on-site and spends significant time on the production floor and at the gemba.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations, or a related technical field.
  • 3–5 years of experience in manufacturing, industrial engineering, manufacturing engineering, or continuous improvement.
  • Demonstrated experience applying Lean tools to improve production-line productivity, flow, quality, delivery, and cost.
  • Experience facilitating Kaizen events and structured problem solving in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong working knowledge of Lean manufacturing principles and production-system deployment.
  • Proficiency with value stream mapping, standard work, time studies, takt time, line balancing, 5S, visual management, Kaizen, A3/PDCA, SMED, TPM, and root cause analysis.
  • Ability to analyze production data, develop practical countermeasures, and quantify productivity and cost improvements.
  • Strong facilitation, coaching, communication, and change-management skills, with the ability to engage employees at all levels.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to lead cross-functional teams from problem definition through sustained implementation.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint; experience with data visualization tools.
  • Ability to work effectively on the production floor and spend significant time at the gemba.

Nice To Haves

  • Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent practical Lean training.
  • Experience implementing or sustaining a Lean Production System or Operational Excellence system.

Responsibilities

  • Lead implementation and sustainment of the site Lean Production System, including standard work, visual management, daily accountability, tiered performance reviews, and leader standard work.
  • Analyze production processes to identify waste, constraints, bottlenecks, imbalance, excess motion, waiting, rework, overprocessing, and opportunities to improve flow and labor efficiency.
  • Apply Lean tools including Kaizen, PDCA/A3, value stream mapping, 5S, standard work, takt time, line balancing, one-piece flow, pull/Kanban, SMED, TPM, and root cause analysis.
  • Facilitate Kaizen events and rapid improvement workshops; define problems, establish baseline performance, implement countermeasures, and verify sustained results.
  • Partner with production leaders and front-line employees to improve workstation layout, material presentation, point-of-use storage, ergonomics, and process flow.
  • Establish and maintain visual performance management for production metrics such as productivity, labor efficiency, cycle time, takt attainment, first pass yield, WIP, lead time, and schedule attainment.
  • Use data analysis and gemba observation to identify performance gaps, prioritize opportunities, and quantify financial and operational benefits.
  • Coach supervisors, engineers, technicians, and operators in Lean principles, structured problem solving, waste identification, and continuous improvement behaviors.
  • Drive corrective actions and countermeasures to closure; establish control plans, audits, or standard work to sustain gains.
  • Maintain a prioritized continuous improvement project pipeline and communicate project status, results, risks, and next actions to plant leadership.
  • Benchmark best practices across operations and help standardize successful Lean methods across production areas.
