About The Position

The CI/CD Pipeline Engineer builds and maintains DevSecOps (DSO) environments and CI/CD pipelines that support automated unit, functional, performance, integration, resiliency, Section 508, and security testing for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) deliver secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in computer science or IT related degree with 7-10 years' experience
  • Strong experience with CI/CD pipeline tools (Jenkins, GitHub Actions, CircleCI, Azure DevOps, etc.) and artifact repositories (Nexus, Artifactory).
  • Hands‑on expertise with containerization and orchestration (Docker, Kubernetes).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code using Terraform and managing resources in cloud environments, particularly AWS GovCloud.
  • Familiarity with multiple tech stacks supported by VA (.Net Core, Java, JavaScript, SQL, Python, Bash, Groovy).
  • Strong understanding of automated security scanning, static/dynamic testing, and Section 508 compliance.

Responsibilities

  • Automate all phases of software delivery, including builds, tests, deployments, zero‑downtime releases, rollbacks, and deployment validation.
  • Support Test‑Driven Development (TDD) methodologies by integrating automated testing and code validation into the pipeline.
  • Capture DevSecOps performance and compliance metrics directly from CI/CD pipeline runs
  • Support creation and maintenance of product environments across VA government cloud (Development, SQA, Pre‑Production, Production).
  • Incorporate automated static and dynamic security testing (e.g., Fortify, SonarQube) into every pipeline stage.
  • Ensure all software delivery processes meet enterprise security requirements and support continuous authorization.
  • Produce Monitoring Plans and DSO Dashboards detailing release cadence, automated test coverage, failure rates, lead time, mean‑time‑to‑restore, automated rollbacks, and SLT performance
  • Utilize and provide expertise in DevSecOps tooling including Jenkins, CircleCI, GitHub, Nexus, Artifactory, Docker, ECR, Sonar, Maven, NPM, Terraform, CloudFormation, Elastic Stack, AppDynamics
  • Deliver Automated Testing Reports and Product Interface Control Documents (ICDs).
