About The Position

The Executive Director of Christian Adoption Services provides visionary, spiritual, and operational leadership ensuring excellence in adoption services while advancing the Christ centered mission of CAS. This leader embodies biblical values and champions the sanctity of life. This position is responsible for cultivating and nurturing donor relationships while leading the overall donor advancement strategies. The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, growth, and sustainability of the adoption ministry. This role oversees strategy, program excellence, staff leadership, fundraising, donor relations, and national expansion, while ensuring alignment with the vision, policies, and leadership of Baptist Children’s Homes. The Executive Director serves as the primary spokesperson and champion for the adoption program and plays a key role in advancing organizational reputation, partnerships, and financial sustainability.

Requirements

  • Personal commitment to Jesus Christ and alignment with the statement of faith of BCH
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Minimum of 10 years of senior leadership experience in adoption, child welfare, or related nonprofit services
  • Proven experience leading teams of 25+ staff members
  • Demonstrated success in fundraising, donor cultivation, and relationship management
  • Strong knowledge of adoption laws, regulations, and best practices
  • Exceptional leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree in social work, counseling, nonprofit leadership, or related field
  • Experience leading a national or multi-state adoption organization
  • Experience operating within a larger parent ministry or complex organizational structure
  • Licensed clinical or social work background
  • Established relationships within Christian, adoption, or child welfare networks

Responsibilities

  • Provide vision and strategic direction for the adoption agency’s national growth and impact which will lead to year over year growth of adoptions
  • Develop and implement multi-year strategic plans aligned BCH mission, vision and goals
  • Identify opportunities for program expansion, innovation, and increased adoption outcomes
  • Ensure compliance with all state, federal, and international adoption regulations and accreditation standards
  • Oversee day-to-day operations of the adoption agency, ensuring excellence, consistency, compliance and agency accreditation
  • Lead and manage the staff, including senior managers and clinical professionals
  • Ensure the successful completion of approximately 60 adoptions annually while maintaining high ethical and care standards
  • Establish and monitor program metrics, outcomes, and continuous improvement initiatives
  • Collaborate closely with foster care and residential care leadership to ensure coordinated services where applicable.
  • Build, mentor, and retain a high-performing, mission-driven staff
  • Foster a Christ-centered organizational culture marked by compassion, accountability, and professional excellence
  • Provide leadership development, performance management, and succession planning
  • Encourage spiritual growth, prayer, and faith integration among staff
  • Serve as the primary leader for adoption-related fundraising initiatives
  • Partner with the parent ministry’s advancement team to design and execute annual and long-term fundraising strategies
  • Cultivate, steward, and solicit major donors, churches, foundations, and corporate partners
  • Represent the adoption ministry in donor meetings, events, and public forums
  • Ensure financial sustainability of the adoption program through diversified revenue streams
  • Develop and manage the adoption ministry’s budget in collaboration with the finance team
  • Ensure responsible stewardship of resources and financial accountability
  • Monitor revenue, expenses, and program sustainability
  • Participate in organizational planning and reporting processes
  • Serve as a national ambassador for the adoption ministry within Christian, nonprofit, and child welfare communities
  • Build strategic partnerships with churches, agencies, and referral sources
  • Advocate for ethical, Christ-centered adoption practices
  • Support public relations and communications efforts related to adoption services
