About The Position

This position is responsible for preparing ingredients for cooking, including portioning, chopping, and storing food. The cook will pull food from freezer storage to thaw in the refrigerator, and weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment. The cook will prepare and cook food according to recipes, quality standards, presentation standards, and food preparation checklist, while monitoring food quality. Testing foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently will be done using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Ensuring proper portion, arrangement, and food garnish to be served, and serving food in proper portions onto proper receptacles are key duties. The cook will use kitchen tools safely and appropriately, and wash and disinfect the kitchen area, tables, tools, knives, and equipment. Checking and ensuring the correctness of the temperature of appliances and food, and notifying the manager if a product does not meet specifications are also required. The role involves communicating any assistance needed during busy periods, following all company and safety and security policies and procedures, reporting maintenance needs, accidents, injuries, and unsafe work conditions to the manager, and completing safety training and certifications. Ensuring uniform and personal appearance are clean and professional, welcoming and acknowledging all guests according to company standards, and speaking with others using clear and professional language are expected. Supporting the team to reach common goals, listening and responding appropriately to the concerns of other employees, and ensuring adherence to quality expectations and standards are also part of the role. The position requires standing, sitting, or walking for an extended period of time, and moving, lifting, carrying, pushing, pulling, and placing objects weighing less than or equal to 10 pounds without assistance. Other reasonable job duties as requested by Supervisors will also be performed.

  • At least 1 year of related work experience.
