About The Position

A Doctor of Chiropractic (Chiropractors) must work as a clinical leader of the rehabilitation team to provider physical medicine and rehabilitation services under the clinical direction and supervision of the Medical Director of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. A Chiropractor interprets prescriptions from physicians and/or non-physician providers, evaluates patients, and develops individualized plans of care and goals for patients based on findings from the evaluations. A Chiropractor also initiates treatments according to the plans of care, obtains data related to the interventions provided, makes modifications in selected interventions either to progress the patient/client or to ensure patient/client safety and comfort, and documents in a timely and accurate manner the treatments given to patients, including collecting frequent subjective data and objective measurements and correlating them to the established goals in the plan of care. Chiropractors also supervise, collaborate, and communicate with, and hold regular meetings with PM&R technicians to facilitate an environment for superior patient care and satisfy legal regulations. Chiropractors support the company mission and goals by providing accurate and timely evaluations and diagnoses with appropriate plans of care, while performing high quality evidence-based treatments and excellent customer service to individuals who have medical problems or other health-related conditions that limit their abilities to move and perform functional activities in their daily lives. Each treatment should be tailored to progress patients towards goals according to the plan of care.

Requirements

  • Doctoral degree (DC.)
  • Must be licensed to practice in Texas.
  • National Board Exams I, II, Ill, IV, Physiotherapy, State Board Exam, Chiropractic License, and Licensed as a chiropractor with at least 2-4 years of experience preferred.
  • CPR certification with AED is required and must be kept current.
  • Skilled in use of computer/EMR systems.
  • Knowledge of Word processing software, spreadsheet software, Internet, and database software.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory/management experience preferred.
  • 2-4 years’ experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Interprets physician/non-physician provider’s referral accurately and requests interpretation as necessary.
  • Administers and interprets tests and measurements of patients for examination and evaluation purposes.
  • Reviews patient chart and progress prior to treatment and modifies the treatment plan accordingly.
  • Develops realistic functional goals based on patient and/or family expectations.
  • Evaluates and re-evaluates referred patients for reasonable and necessary treatment of diagnosed conditions.
  • Establishes treatment plans and presents to the patients.
  • Completes treatment notes daily for patients seen. Properly codes for services rendered and works with the Billing Department for effective and timely billing.
  • Visits with providers on a regular basis regarding referrals.
  • Communicates with the Director, techs, and other health team members regarding patient progress and goals from the department.
  • Oversees the patient’s diagnoses, treatment, and prevention of musculoskeletal conditions of spinal column and extremities. Perform Chiropractic Manipulation and treatment for Chiropractic referrals.
  • Corrects abnormalities caused by interference with nervous system.
  • Trains and oversees the activities of the techs.
  • Participates in marketing activities for the PM&R and Occupational Medicine Department.
  • Performs employer and DOT physicals and helps with Work Comp. patients on an as needed basis.
  • Performs attorney narratives upon request.
  • Perform off-site lectures/classes as needed.
  • Directs and issues DME equipment as directed and/or requested from preferred vendor or GMG.
  • Performs drug testing classes as needed.
  • Resolve any departmental administrative problems and keep lines of communication with staff open.
  • Conduct counseling and performance reviews for staff.
  • Maintain strictest confidentiality.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Reports abnormal values and accurately documents clinical findings to provider in charge.
  • Assists in providing quality health care by accessing the electronic medical record to obtain/provide pertinent information.
  • Remains aligned with the departmental goals which involves understanding the importance of conducting RMH visits, perform HEDIS measures, and participating providing quality care by utilizing the tools and reports provided to help reach departmental/organizational goals.
  • Maintains assigned work area with supplies and equipment. Cleans, stocks, and maintains exam rooms, procedure rooms, instruments, and equipment.
  • Follows universal precaution standards about patients, procedures, handling specimens, cleaning exam rooms as taught and retrained through annual compliance training.
  • Transports patients safely from the following positions: sitting to standing or laying down, from standing to sitting or lying down, from laying down to standing or sitting, and assist to the bathroom, into/out of wheelchairs, and pushing/pulling patients in wheelchairs.
  • Must always keep the patients’ safety a priority, which will involve preventing potential falls as needed.
  • Will need to travel to support patient care at all GMG locations on a rotational basis.
  • Maintains strict confidentiality.
