About The Position

This opportunity resides with All-Domain Operations (ADO), a business group within HII’s Mission Technologies division. All-Domain Operations comprises multi-domain operations, platforms and logistics, and intelligence operations. HII-Mission Technologies is seeking a (part time/remote) native Chinese Mandarin Cultural & Language Advisor with strong English skills to support security cooperation efforts. The role requires expert translation, interpretation, cultural analysis, and conversational sentiment assessment. Candidates must demonstrate proven experience in multicultural environments and the ability to navigate complex cultural and linguistic nuances. This requisition supports hiring at multiple experience levels. Final placement will be determined based on the selected applicant’s qualifications, experience, and skill sets.

Requirements

  • Level 3: 6 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 4 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 10 years relevant experience.
  • Level 4: 10 years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 8 years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 14 years relevant experience.
  • Level 5: 15+ years relevant experience with Bachelors in related field; 13+ years relevant experience with Masters in related field; or High School Diploma or equivalent and 19+ years relevant experience.
  • Possess native or near-native competency in Chinese Mandarin
  • Experience translating and summarizing general and technical material
  • Proven ability to review, edit, and prepare executive-level briefing materials to ensure accuracy and quality
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, with demonstrated expertise in Word and PowerPoint
  • Excellent ability to work autonomously or in team-based environments, adapting approach to meet project needs
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a Secret clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Experience supporting USINDOPACOM and/or Intelligence Community (IC)
  • Advanced Chinese Mandarin language skills equivalent to or above ILR 2+ level for reading and writing
  • Knowledge of U.S. Department of Defense security cooperation policies and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Provide language-enabled research, analytic services, and forward-thinking insight on complex issues related to China
  • Be responsible for the full range of activities in processing material or participating in situations requiring advanced capability to perform translation, transcription and interpretation tasks in support of the customer
  • Prepare assessments of current events based on sophisticated collection, research and analysis of open-source information, as well as develop and maintain analytical procedures to meet changing requirements and ensure maximum operations
  • Scan, sort/categorize foreign language written and verbal materials to recover essential elements of information
  • Complete lists, translations, and transcriptions, of complex and sophisticated written and/or spoken materials from Chinese Mandarin to English, and English to Chinese Mandarin
  • Perform quality control on language processing activities
  • Independently monitor and research various media to identify relevant Chinese language web content
  • Perform translations of various documents
  • Transcribe information into summaries
  • Additional duties as assigned or required
