About The Position
Harvard-Westlake School is currently seeking to hire an exceptional and highly qualified substitute teacher for part-time, on-call coverage at our Middle School, teaching Chinese I, II, and III Advanced Chinese to students in grades 7-9 for the 2026-27 school year.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree or foreign equivalent degree in Education, Linguistics, or a related field.
- Experience teaching Chinese as a second language in a school classroom environment.
- Fluency in Chinese.
- Ability to teach beginning and intermediate students.
- Strong communication skills.
- Demonstrated collegiality and organization.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate concepts clearly and concisely to students.
- Ability to foster an innovative and creative learning environment.
Responsibilities
- Teach Chinese I, II, and III Advanced Chinese to students in grades 7-9.

Benefits
- Compensation for long-term substitutes (two weeks or more) is based on a prorated annual salary of $85,000.
