About The Position

BluePath Labs is seeking a China Research Intern to support open-source research and translation products related to China's military, defense industrial base, technological development, and foreign policy. The intern will contribute to research and translation work at all stages, including administrative tasks, data gathering, open-source research and analysis, report editing, translation proofreading, data visualization generation, and software tool testing. The role is primarily remote, with a preference for candidates local to the DC area for occasional in-person meetings and office use.

Requirements

• U.S. Citizen
• Bachelor's Degree
• Currently enrolled in or recently graduated from a Master's or PhD program
• Strong, near-native Chinese reading skills
• Ability to work 15-25 hours per week on a flexible schedule
• Ability to work independently

Nice To Haves

• Chinese-to-English translation experience
• A record of publications related to China, especially related to defense and technology
• Familiarity with Python and/or command line-based tools
• Interest in data science and visualization
• Time spent living in China
