About The Position

Smalling Masonry is seeking motivated individuals to learn the trade of chimney and fireplace services. This apprenticeship program offers hands-on training to develop skilled technicians and future leaders. The role involves learning various aspects of chimney construction, masonry, fireplace systems, roofing, venting, and repair, with opportunities for advancement to a Lead Technician position within 18 months based on performance and demonstrated ability. The program emphasizes practical skills, problem-solving, customer communication, and jobsite safety.

Requirements

• At least one year of hands-on construction or mechanical experience (e.g., roofing, framing, masonry, gutters, plumbing, HVAC, appliance installation/repair, remodeling, or similar work)
• Comfortable working outdoors in changing weather
• Comfortable climbing ladders and scaffolding
• Comfortable working safely on roofs and at heights
• Comfortable performing physical work
• Comfortable interacting professionally with homeowners
• Willingness to learn new systems and skills
• Valid driver's license
• Acceptable driving history
• Reliable transportation to work
• Ability to meet company employment requirements
