About The Position

The Rehanger position at Tyson Foods' Wilkesboro Fresh Plant is responsible for hanging birds on a production line. This role involves picking up and hanging birds by their legs in shackles at shoulder height, inspecting them for defects, and placing downgraded birds in appropriate containers. The job requires standing on a metal platform for up to 8 hours in a cool environment and performing repetitive motions. Key responsibilities include maintaining product flow, relieving team members for breaks, filling in for open positions, performing various production tasks, assisting with product movement, monitoring work areas for quality and safety, following SOPs, identifying and reporting hazards, and maintaining cleanliness. The Fresh Plant Environment requires strict adherence to hygiene, sanitation, PPE, and food safety standards, with the ability to adapt to changing line assignments. The role is critical for ensuring consistent production flow and operational flexibility in a fresh food manufacturing environment.

Requirements

High School diploma or equivalent preferred
Previous manufacturing or fresh food production experience preferred
Ability to learn and perform multiple production tasks
Flexibility and willingness to work in multiple production areas
Strong attendance and reliability
Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
Basic communication skills
Team-oriented mindset with a strong commitment to safety and quality
Ability to stand and walk for the entire shift
Ability to bend, stoop, reach, twist, and perform repetitive motions

Required use of PPE, including gloves, aprons, hairnets, and protective footwear

Overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required based on production needs

Responsibilities

From a standing position, pick up and hang birds approx. 3.5-6 pounds by both legs in shackles shoulder height, 16 inches from the body, approx. 5 per minute.
Visually inspect birds for any defects.
Use of both hands and arms required.
Must stand on metal platform for up to 8 hours.
Must be able to tolerate cool environments.
Downgrade birds with defects; place in appropriate containers for further processing.
Maintain continuous product flow on production lines to support efficiency and throughput.
Relieve Team Members on the production line for breaks, lunches, and absences.
Fill in for open positions during labor shortages to ensure uninterrupted operations.
Perform multiple production tasks as assigned, including but not limited to packing, sorting, staging, and material handling.
Assist with product movement between production areas to prevent downtime or congestion.
Monitor work areas to ensure product quality, food safety, and sanitation standards are met.
Follow all standard operating procedures (SOPs) related to fresh product handling.
Assist supervisors by responding quickly to changing production needs.
Identify and report safety hazards, equipment issues, or product concerns immediately.
Maintain cleanliness and organization of production areas, tools, and equipment.
Comply with all Tyson policies, OSHA regulations, USDA requirements, and food safety guidelines.
Perform other duties as assigned to support production and operational goals.
