About The Position

The Children’s Trauma Therapist serves as a staff member at will of Domestic Violence Intervention Services (DVIS). The Children’s Trauma Therapist provides professional therapy services for DVIS clients including intakes, individual sessions, family sessions, group sessions, psycho-education, advocacy, case management, and crisis intervention. This role is responsible for conducting intakes, individual therapy sessions, family therapy sessions, and group sessions with children and their caregivers, providing thoughtful, clinically sound interventions unique to each client/family and their situation. The therapist will safety plan with every client/family and utilize evidence-based, trauma-informed treatment models. They will also assist with crisis intervention as needed, and are responsible for completing intake assessments, treatment plans, case notes, assessments, and all other documentation within the required timeframe, including court reports and other letters for clients. Additionally, the role involves providing consultation to other professionals regarding domestic and sexual violence and collaborating internally and externally to best assist clients. The position requires a commitment to disrupting domestic violence using a holistic lens and applying an equitable analysis to all duties.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree required.
  • LPC, LCSW, LMFT, or under supervision for licensure. If not yet licensed, must be able to go under supervision upon the first date of employment.
  • A minimum of one year of supervised experience providing therapy to adults and/or children; this may be acquired through graduate experience.
  • Proven computer skills including Microsoft Office Suite, Canva, and Adobe.
  • Ability to efficiently utilize DVIS’ electronic health records system.
  • Commitment to disrupting domestic violence using a holistic lens to support people who commit harm and survivors of interpersonal violence.
  • Excellent organizational skills, written and oral communication skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize work and tasks.
  • Adaptability to produce and meet deadlines in a fast-paced, multi-task, and changing environment, with frequent pressure related to meeting deadlines and scheduling requirements.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Good negotiation skills and the ability to handle sensitive information with diplomacy.
  • Ability to embrace, support, and integrate DVIS’s philosophies to promote and demonstrate DVIS’s commitment to diversity, inclusion, equity, and anti-racism.
  • Sophisticated emotional intelligence and resiliency skills to lead and/or actively participate in advancing our work relative to racial, social, and economic justice.

  • Knowledge of or experience working with social justice issues, specifically intimate partner, and gender-based domestic and sexual violence, and racial, class, gender, sexual orientation issues, and intervention/prevention services.

Responsibilities
