About The Position

As a Children's Team Lead, you will help provide a safe, nurturing, and trauma-informed environment for children while their parents participate in counseling and support services. Working alongside our clinical and program staff, you will play an essential role in promoting children's emotional well-being, healthy development, and sense of security.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Child Development or a related field, or equivalent experience.
Experience working with children in educational, childcare, behavioral health, or supportive environments.
CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain upon hire).
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
Ability to remain calm and effective during emotionally sensitive situations.
Crisis intervention and de-escalation skills.
Completion of California's required 40-Hour Domestic Violence Training
Valid California driver's license, proof of insurance, and reliable transportation.
Successful completion of fingerprint clearance, drug screening, and TB testing.
Ability to lift up to 25 pounds.
Ability to actively engage in play with children, including standing, walking, bending, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and other physical activities.
Ability to work in an active environment with typical childcare noise levels.

Nice To Haves

Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred but not required.
Speak Spanish (a plus).

Responsibilities

Provide nurturing, trauma-informed childcare during individual and group parent sessions.
Lead the Children's Advocates in all necessary tasks and duties.
Ensure accurate and timely school enrollments as needed.
Be responsible for all inventory relating to the Children's Department.
Create engaging, age-appropriate activities that promote learning, creativity, and emotional wellness.
Foster a safe, welcoming, and developmentally appropriate play environment.
Support children through positive guidance and conflict resolution.
Monitor children's physical and emotional well-being and respond appropriately to concerns.
Help create a warm, safe, and inviting atmosphere, including seasonal and child-friendly room decorations.
On Call duties as scheduled.
Partner with therapists and program staff to support each child's individual needs.
Communicate observations, concerns, and behavioral changes to the Case Management and Therapy Team.
Retrieve parents from sessions when immediate child needs arise.
Collaborate and support other departments as needed.
Supervise volunteers as assigned and model trauma-informed interactions.
Maintain accurate documentation of incidents, observations, and behavioral concerns.
Be responsible for accurate and timely data collection and input as required.
Fulfill all California Mandated Reporter responsibilities and promptly report suspected abuse or neglect according to agency policies.
Lead and delegate administrative tasks as needed.
Supervise and manage Children's Advocates.
Maintain toys, games, books, and program supplies.
Participate in agency meetings, trainings, community events, and special projects.
Perform additional duties that support program operations and shelter needs.
Maintain strict confidentiality of all client, staff, and agency information.
Demonstrate professionalism, compassion, and healthy boundaries with clients and coworkers.
Represent Laura's House with integrity, respect, and professionalism.
