About The Position

The Children's Ministry Director is responsible for ensuring the Saddleback Kids ministry program is offered on the weekend, which includes program set-up, setting up and tearing down rooms, managing the check-in area, and staffing requirements. This role involves teaching various classes, preparing curriculum and materials, recruiting and onboarding volunteers, and maintaining communication with various teams and stakeholders. The position requires a deep understanding of children aged Birth through Grade 5, Saddleback Church culture, and Purpose Driven Children's Ministry. The Director has decision-making authority within the SK playbook and interacts with various internal and external groups, including volunteers, parents, campus staff, and the central SK team.

Requirements

  • Children’s Ministry experience is necessary.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of children age Birth through Grade 5.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of the Saddleback Church culture.
  • Knowledge, experience and understanding of Purpose Driven Children’s Ministry.
  • Administrative experience is required.
  • Proficiency in Google Workspace, Pro Presenter, Keynote.
  • Organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Financial skills to manage budget.
  • Teamwork and flexibility.
  • Skills required to manage and organize events, projects and supplies.
  • Experience in recruiting and shepherding volunteers.
  • Capable of creatively and independently solving problems.
  • Ability to foresee and address the needs of their campus children’s ministry.
  • Recruit and onboard new SK volunteers.
  • Facilitate training and fellowship for SK volunteers.
  • Care and shepherding for SK volunteers.
  • Full range of decision making for this ministry as long as the decisions are based within the SK playbook.

Responsibilities

  • Ensure the Saddleback Kids ministry program is offered on the weekend.
  • Manage program set-up, including rooms, check-in area, and staffing.
  • Teach Explore SK, NLO1, baptism classes, and child dedication classes.
  • Prepare all curriculum for weekend use, including print items, keynotes, and crafts.
  • Prepare for special event weekends as needed.
  • Recruit and onboard new SK volunteers.
  • Facilitate training and fellowship for SK volunteers.
  • Provide care and shepherding for SK volunteers.
  • Send weekly e-mail communication to SK volunteers.
  • Handle family communication as needed.
  • Create promotional materials for the ministry.
  • Maintain communication with the campus team and SK central team.
  • Attend weekly campus staff meetings.
  • Attend monthly SK meetings.
  • Attend monthly all staff meetings.
  • Manage and organize events, projects, and supplies.
  • Recruit and onboard new SK volunteers.
  • Facilitate training and fellowship for SK volunteers.
  • Care for and shepherd SK volunteers.
  • Make decisions within the SK playbook for the ministry.
  • Interact with other ministries at their campus.
  • Stay in contact with the central SK team and children's teams at other campuses.
  • Attend weekly campus staff meetings and other requested meetings.
  • Provide daily responsiveness and interaction with campus staff and volunteer team.
  • Be available to volunteer leaders, parents, and children.
  • Receive support, direction, and coaching from the SK Multisite pastor and SK Central team.
  • Supervise 20-30 volunteers.

Benefits

  • Pay rate between $28-$30 hourly, depending on experience.
