Children’s Emergency Services Supervisor
About The Position
This position is a Child Protective Services Casework Supervisor role within the Department of Health and Human Services (DHHS). The supervisor will plan, coordinate, direct, and monitor the activities of caseworkers and support staff in child protection, adoption, and substitute care. Responsibilities include assessing and assigning casework loads, reviewing and monitoring staff performance and service delivery, resolving critical and crisis situations (including decisions for child removal), and supervising subordinate staff through hiring, promotion, and disciplinary actions. The role involves authorizing service provision and expenditures, negotiating contracts with service providers, and ensuring compliance with state and federal laws through case review and participation in court hearings.
Requirements
- Eight (8) years of education and/or professional experience in social work.
- At least two (2) years of experience as a fully licensed social worker (LSW).
- Licensed Social Worker (LSW).
Nice To Haves
- Recent experience in professional child welfare casework.
- A thorough knowledge of and recent experience working with MACWIS/Katahdin.
- Four years experience as a fully-licensed social worker.
Responsibilities
- Plan, organize, assign, direct, and monitor work activities of caseworkers and resource staff to ensure established quality service standards are maintained.
- Confer with and counsel workers regarding casework to assist with difficult cases and caseload problems.
- Review and compare work performance and/or products of staff with established standards to assess employee productivity levels and training needs.
- Confer with other agencies and community resources to coordinate services, promote necessary community resources, and monitor cooperative agreements.
- Evaluate and recommend program-wide changes and establish unit procedures and goals to upgrade the quality and continuity of services.
- Coordinate activities between unit and service providers to effectively deliver social services to agency clients.
- Authorize service provision and client/caseworker expenditures.
- Negotiate various contracts and agreements with service providers and others to ensure appropriate services are provided.
- Analyze and review cases to ensure compliance with state and federal laws, standards, and requirements, and initiate and participate in court hearings.
