About The Position

SFC SEATTLE EASTSIDE LLC dba Sticky Fingers Cooking® is looking to hire part-time Chef Instructors in Mercer Island to help cultivate culinary curiosity in kids. This role involves leading fun, hands-on cooking classes for children aged 3-18, introducing them to new ingredients and tastes. Instructors work on-site at various locations, using provided cooking kits and creative recipes. The job includes reviewing curricula, preparing for instruction, and independently shopping for fresh ingredients. Key teaching areas include basic kitchen skills, nutrition, safety, and the cultural context of recipes. The goal is to teach children healthy food habits for life.

Requirements

Availability at least 2 days a week (Monday - Friday, between 2-5pm).
Commitment to teaching full sessions (ranging from 4-12 weeks).
Washington Food Worker Card (can obtain before teaching).
Ability to manage and engage a group of 8-14 children with diverse backgrounds and academic levels.
Upon hire, employees will be required to pass a fingerprint background check.
Access to reliable transportation.
Ability to communicate with our team in a timely manner.
Punctual and reliable.

Responsibilities

Lead hour-long healthy and engaging cooking enrichment classes for students aged 3-18.
Use creative recipes to teach children about new ingredients and healthy foods from around the world in an engaging and hands-on way.
Review weekly class curricula and prepare for instruction.
Shop independently for fresh ingredients.
Teach basic kitchen skills including washing, cutting, grating, stirring, measuring, nutrition, and safety.
Teach the history, geography, and language behind each recipe.
Provide direction and encouragement to children as they prepare new recipes.
Teach kids healthy food habits.
