About The Position

Associated Students, Inc. (ASI) employs student-focused professionals with equity-mindsets. Established in 1963, ASI is a non-profit corporation guided by a student board and managed by full-time professional staff. ASI is considered a part of the Cal Poly Pomona Division of Student Affairs with a dashed reporting line to Administrative Affairs. ASI serves the entire campus population, including over 27,000 students, by providing opportunities for student engagement, student employment, and a multitude of programs and services such as recreation and wellness, student union and activities, student government, and childcare. ASI operational support areas include human resources, financial services, information technology, facilities management, and marketing. ASI is engaged in the work of being a learning organization. Requirements

  • Certification in Pediatric CPR/AED and First Aid within 30 days of employment (provided by ASI)
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality and a diplomatic, professional demeanor
  • Demonstrated ability to provide friendly customer-oriented service
  • Ability to perform accurate, detailed work
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment
  • Ability to perceive children’s needs and develop positive relationships
  • Ability to communicate sensitive information with tact and consideration
  • Ability to adapt willingly to frequent changes in activity, priorities, and/or work schedules.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions

  • Ability to satisfactorily complete a background check (including a criminal records check)
  • Employment with ASI is open to any Cal Poly Pomona student who is eligible to work and has the legal right to work in the United States.
  • Student employees must be currently enrolled in a minimum of 6.0 units (undergraduate) and 4.0 units (graduate), international student employees must be enrolled in a minimum of 12.0 units (undergraduate) and 6.0 units (graduate) at the end of the add-drop period.
  • Student employees are required to have a minimum overall and Cal Poly Pomona GPA of 2.0 and be in good academic standing with the University.
  • Individuals enrolled only in Extended University are not eligible for hire.
  • Exceptions to the unit load requirement are allowed during the summer term and for students who have applied for graduation for the current term.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience (paid or unpaid) working with children 5 years and younger, preferred
  • At least six months working in an office setting or demonstrated ability to follow complex instructions to produce administrative reports, preferred

Responsibilities

  • Provides high-quality customer service for the Children’s Center, including but not limited to, providing program information, appointment assistance, managing inquiries, and access control
  • Maintain cash drawer/safe and related responsibilities, including counting in/out, recording sales, and making change
  • Prepares accurate and timely reconciliations for all department-related procurement credit cards
  • Assists with managing accurate and timely grant-related tracking records
  • Assist with grant-related reports to support the operations of the Children’s Center
  • Assists with managing enrollment packets including but not limited to, distribution, completion assistance, and safeguarding collected information
  • Assists with special parenting events, programs and services, as needed
  • Assists with classroom support, in accordance to licensing requirements, as needed
  • Enforces policies and procedures for safeguarding minors
  • Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services
  • Attends and engages in required orientations, training, and professional development
  • Performs other related duties as assigned
