As a Child and Family Specialist for California MENTOR Family Support Services, a member of the Sevita Family, you’ll provide assistance and guidance to the children and families served as a mentor, coach, and advocate. Requirements

Associate Arts degree in Human Services, Social Work or Psychology plus 1 year experience working with high risk youth; OR a high school diploma (or GED) plus 3 years’ experience working with high risk youth
An equivalent combination of education and experience
Current driver's license (valid for 1 year minimum), car registration, and auto insurance
Successful clearance of local and/or state background checks
A reliable, responsible attitude, compassionate approach and a commitment to quality in everything you do

Responsibilities

Provide in-home and community based supports - connect child and family to resources (schools, parks, recreation etc.)
Attend review hearings and Child and Family Team (CFT) meetings
Advocate for child and family’s needs and prepare child and family for Child and Family Team (CFT) activities
Work with foster families to build and maintain positive, supportive, and encouraging working relationships and connect them to resources
Prepare each foster child for the identified permanency goal
Manage conflict and family crises through reference to family safety plan
Co-facilitate training and/or activities for children
Provide mentoring and teaching resources: nurturing/parenting skills, problem-solving/conflict resolution skills, child development, self-esteem concepts, safety plan for children and parents, and basic needs
