About The Position

This role focuses on receiving, assessing, and directing reports of suspected child abuse and neglect to the proper investigative agencies. As a ChildLine Caseworker, you will perform the following duties: Report Guidance: Inform callers of their legal rights and responsibilities and explain that all referrals are treated confidentially. Support Callers: Exhibit professionalism, empathy, and compassion when dealing with emotional, anxious, or reluctant callers. This helps alleviate their concerns regarding a suspected child abuse or neglect referral. Referral Interviews: Interview callers to determine the nature and facts of the referral. Database Search: Search the statewide database for previous referrals of child abuse or neglect. Policy Application: Apply the Child Protective Services Law, rules and regulations, and administrative policies to render referral related decisions. Referral Analysis: Analyze and refer child abuse and neglect reports from mandated and non-mandated reporters to the appropriate investigative agency.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree; or An equivalent combination of experience and training.
  • Applicants will be considered to have met the educational requirements once they are within 3 months of graduating with a qualifying degree.
  • You must meet the PA residency requirement.
  • You must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission and approval of satisfactory criminal history reports including, but not limited to, PA State Police clearance, PA Child Abuse history clearance, and FBI Fingerprint clearance.
