About The Position

The Salvation Army is seeking a dedicated Caseworker to join the Family Services department. This role is crucial for assessing client needs, providing essential services, and connecting individuals with community resources. The position offers a chance to make a significant impact and contribute to a meaningful mission.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Services Field.
  • Past employment with social services or human services.
  • Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.
  • Excellent computer skills including Microsoft Office.
  • Bilingual ability (English and Spanish) preferred.
  • Valid Driver’s License
  • Knowledge of cultural flexibility, competency in working with multi-cultural participants and experience working with inner-city populations.
  • Detail oriented, flexible, and able to work under pressure with minimal supervision.
  • Must be willing to serve on boards, committees and panels.
  • Pennsylvania's Child Protective Services Law requires that all prospective employees complete the following clearance and background checks: PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and PA DHS Criminal Record/Fingerprint Check.
  • In addition, completion of a Pennsylvania approved Child Abuse Recognition and Reporting Training is necessary prior to employment.
  • Must understand and support for the Mission of The Salvation Army.

Responsibilities

  • Interview clients, assessing their situations, capabilities and problems to determine what services are required to meet their needs.
  • Maintain case history and prepare reports as needed.
  • Refer clients to community resources for services such as job placement, debt counseling, legal aid, housing, medical treatment and provide concrete information such as where to go and how to apply.
  • Develop and review service plans in consultation with clients and perform follow-ups assessing the quantity and quality of services provided.
  • Assist with food pantry as needed.
  • Assist with Christmas assistance program and specific seasonal assistance programs as assigned.
  • Provide volunteer training to Family Services volunteers.
  • Keep monthly records on client’s data specifically to produce statistics for The Salvation Army and outcomes-based statistics.
  • Assist with day-to-day functions of the Family Services department.
  • Attend trainings /seminars/meetings as recommended.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
