About The Position

This role involves managing casework for clients, from initial intake and assessment to placement, release, and file closure. The Caseworker will administer assessments, develop individual program plans, make referrals, and ensure clients are prepared for release and reintegration into the community. This includes assisting with housing arrangements and completing all necessary documentation accurately and in a timely manner.

Requirements

  • Associate’s degree in Social Work, Counseling, Corrections, or related field required.
  • Federal Caseworker: Associate’s degree in social services, human services, criminal justice, or behavioral science program from an accredited college or university and two years of work experience in human services, corrections, or community based services required.
  • Must obtain and maintain required level of proficiency for the ORAS as certified by the Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Corrections in partnership with the University of Cincinnati.
  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Reliable transportation.
  • Valid Ohio driver’s license.
  • Driving record that does not preclude the employee from being covered by Agency liability insurance.
  • Cognitive skills needed to complete tasks, including abilities such as learning, remembering, focusing, categorizing, and integrating information for decision making, problem solving, and comprehending.
  • Ability to perform under stress and/or in emergencies.
  • Ability to work effectively with Agency employees, outside contacts, and a diverse client population.
  • Eligible to work in the U.S. without requiring sponsorship.

Nice To Haves

  • Six (6) months experience in Corrections and/or Social Service preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review all available referral information and requirements prior to initial client meetings.
  • Administer or utilize quantitative assessments of clients’ risk and criminogenic needs.
  • Enter ORAS results into Gateway and ORION accurately and timely.
  • Assist clients with becoming more positive, productive, and prosocial members in the community.
  • Act as an advocate for clients and hold clients accountable to program rules.
  • Administer assessment tools properly and ensure updates are completed as needed.
  • Complete individual program plan (IPP) using specified criteria/standards.
  • Make referrals based on client’s ongoing needs and recommended targeted dosage hours.
  • Ensure post-tests and/or exit evaluations are completed prior to client’s release.
  • Assist clients with making suitable housing arrangements.
  • Prepare clients for release from the program with an approved and appropriate Community Plan.
  • Complete release CCIS/OhioMHAS forms in the required time frame.
  • Complete all necessary release forms upon client’s release from the program.
  • Prepare final report per program guidelines and submit to referral source.
  • Complete file closing procedures in a timely manner and submit all closed files to supervisor for review and approval.
