About The Position

The Childcare Worker supports the Lead and Assistant Teachers and contributes to a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate classroom environment. This position ensures compliance with licensing regulations, maintains high-quality supervision, supports instructional activities, and engages positively with children throughout the day. The Childcare Worker partners closely with the Lead and Assistant Teachers to create a consistent, supportive, and Christ-centered learning experience for every child.

Requirements

  • Agreement with HOPE Church values and the mission of HOPEful Beginnings to provide a developmentally appropriate Christian environment where children are encouraged to let God love them, love Him and return, and love others in Jesus’ name.
  • CPR Certification for Adult, Child, and Infant with AED and First Aid Certification, or ability to obtain.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a warm, welcoming presence.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain active supervision of children at all times—within sight, hearing, and quick reach.
  • Demonstrate awareness of the entire group even when engaging one-on-one or with a small group.
  • Respond quickly and appropriately to children’s needs, conflicts, or safety concerns.
  • Adjust supervision strategies to match the activity (e.g., increased attention during art or gross motor play).
  • Spend significant time actively playing with and engaging children; focus on caregiving responsibilities rather than personal tasks.
  • Encourage problem-solving by observing carefully and stepping in only when needed.
  • During circle time, Bible time, or instruction model attentiveness and engagement to support classroom expectations.
  • Maintain active and constant supervision outdoors. Stay engaged with children and monitor the entire play area for safety.
  • Complete assigned chores and initial the chore chart during each time frame (opening, quiet time/nap, closing) per ND licensing regulations.
  • Ensure toys and materials are returned to proper places by the end of the day.
  • Learn and follow the expectations, routines, and classroom management style of the Lead Teacher.
  • Allow the Lead Teacher to manage behavioral or disciplinary situations; provide quiet, supportive information if needed.
  • Complete all required trainings within appropriate timeframe.
  • Function as part of a team; working to maintain and develop relationships within the staff, to exercise care in disagreements, and to be supportive of one another on the staff team. Any concerns should be communicated in a timely and Biblical manner.
  • Attend staff meetings as scheduled.
  • Maintain confidentiality in all personal, business, and financial matters.
