About The Position

We are looking for two permanent full time Educators and one mat leave (one year) coverage Educator for our Infants/Toddlers program at our Calgary South East Seton Active Start location. We are looking for someone who possesses a strong understanding of child development, exceptional engagement skills, and a dedication to fostering positive relationships with both children and colleagues. The ideal candidates will be dependable, adaptable, fluent in English, and exhibit outstanding communication and multitasking abilities. Prior experience is advantageous, and candidates must possess Alberta Child Care certification levels 1, 2, or 3, along with current criminal record check (with vulnerable sector search) and first aid certification.

Requirements

  • Alberta Early Childhood Educator Level 1, 2 or 3 ((with experience) Certification (required).
  • Current Standard First Aid & CPR Level C certification.
  • Current Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Search and Alberta Child Intervention Record Check.
  • Strong knowledge of Alberta childcare licensing regulations and health and safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Patient, caring, dependable, and passionate about early childhood education.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment while taking initiative when needed.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Physically able to lift up to 40 lbs, sit on the floor, bend, kneel, and actively engage with children throughout the day.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with infants or young children in a licensed childcare setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment for infants.
  • Plan and implement age-appropriate activities that support children's physical, cognitive, emotional, and social development.
  • Follow daily routines, including feeding, diapering, napping, and toileting while maintaining children's comfort and well-being.
  • Build positive, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.
  • Observe and document children's development and communicate progress with families and supervisors.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitized classroom in accordance with Alberta Health Services and licensing requirements.
  • Ensure active supervision of children at all times and follow all health, safety, and emergency procedures.
  • Support children's individual needs while encouraging exploration, independence, and learning through play.
  • Work collaboratively with coworkers to maintain ratios and create a positive team environment.
  • Participate in staff meetings, professional development, and ongoing training as required.
