About The Position

The KPC Family Resource Center, established in 2004, offers free respite care for infants and young children, including temporary crisis care and planned childcare. It also provides case management and family support services. KPC is state-licensed as a Small Child Care Center, dedicated to supporting families in Colorado Springs and promoting long-term stability. The Childcare Center Director will lead and oversee the center, using a strengths-based coaching approach to manage staff and volunteers. In collaboration with the Program Director, this role is responsible for the center's programmatic, administrative, and operational management, ensuring high-quality services, regulatory compliance, and effective communication.

Requirements

  • Must maintain a valid driver's license and carry personal auto liability insurance at the level of $100,000/300,000/100,000.
  • Must qualify as center director as specified in Colorado Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in Early Childhood Education and (3) years relevant experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Manages Projects and Functions: Ensures effectiveness and efficiency in the delivery of services and/or programs. Organizes people, resources, and activities and fosters collaboration to achieve responsibilities, goals and targets.
  • Promotes Staff Development: Maintains positive and professional relationships with staff, providing regular feedback on strengths and areas needing improvement. Provides ongoing training and coaching to help staff develop skills and knowledge to be successful at work and foster professional growth.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the KPC Family Resource Center.
  • Apply a strengths-based coaching approach to support and manage a team of direct service staff and volunteers.
  • Partner with the Program Director for programmatic, administrative, and operational management of the center.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery to children and families.
  • Maintain program efficiency and regulatory compliance.
  • Facilitate effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage a team of direct services staff and volunteers, utilizing positive team building leadership, clear communication, delegation, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Assure day-to-day compliance with current state rules governing daycare policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight for children placed in KPC Family Resource Center, including completion of intake paperwork.
  • Maintain written documentation and prepare necessary reports on a timely basis.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, monitoring, and reporting as appropriate for the program.
  • Ensure the center is fiscally sound and programs are sustainable in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Respond to the crisis phone line and provide emergency on-call backup services.
  • Be responsible for staff recruitment and training staff and volunteers according to Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
  • Provide crisis support when needed.
  • May participate in on-call rotation.
