About The Position

The KPC Family Resource Center, established in 2004, is a vital support system for families in Colorado Springs, offering free respite care for infants and young children, including crisis and planned childcare. Beyond childcare, KPC provides case management and family support services to help caregivers access resources. As a state-licensed Small Child Care Center, KPC ensures a safe and nurturing environment, having assisted hundreds of families in achieving stability. The Childcare Center Director will lead and oversee the center, employing a strengths-based coaching approach to manage staff and volunteers. In collaboration with the Program Director, this role is responsible for the center's programmatic, administrative, and operational management, ensuring high-quality service delivery, program efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree with coursework in Early Childhood Education and (3) years relevant experience; or Equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must maintain a valid driver's license.
  • Must carry personal auto liability insurance at the level of $100,000/300,000/100,000.
  • Must qualify as center director as specified in Colorado Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with crisis intervention and trauma informed practices preferred.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and oversight for the KPC Family Resource Center.
  • Apply a strengths-based coaching approach to support and manage a team of direct service staff and volunteers.
  • Manage the programmatic, administrative, and operational aspects of the center in partnership with the Program Director.
  • Ensure high-quality service delivery to children and families.
  • Maintain program efficiency, regulatory compliance, and effective communication with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Manage projects and functions to ensure effectiveness and efficiency in service delivery.
  • Organize people, resources, and activities, fostering collaboration to achieve goals.
  • Promote staff development through positive relationships, regular feedback, and ongoing training and coaching.
  • Communicate expectations clearly and ensure they are understood.
  • Delegate responsibilities appropriately to staff based on skills, duties, and priorities.
  • Foster continuous improvement and innovation to enhance efficiency and work quality.
  • Communicate professionally and cooperate with colleagues, professionals, community partners, and others involved in child care coordination.
  • Adhere to practice standards, including local, state, and federal regulations and guidance, and contractual requirements.
  • Provide crisis intervention, problem-solving, and mediation.
  • Maintain program documentation consistently, ensuring thorough, high-quality, and timely completion.
  • Manage a team of direct services staff and volunteers using positive team building, clear communication, delegation, training, and performance evaluation.
  • Assure day-to-day compliance with state rules governing daycare policies and procedures.
  • Provide oversight for children placed in KPC Family Resource Center, including intake paperwork.
  • Maintain written documentation and prepare necessary reports.
  • Contribute to grant proposals, monitoring, and reporting.
  • Ensure the center is fiscally sound and programs are sustainable in collaboration with the Program Director.
  • Respond to the crisis phone line and provide emergency on-call backup services.
  • Responsible for staff recruitment and training staff and volunteers according to Volume 7 daycare licensing rules.
  • Provide crisis support when needed.
  • May participate in on-call rotation.
