About The Position

This role is for a Childcare Center Director at a childcare center that is open from 6 AM to 6 PM. Full-time employees work 40 hours per week. Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 1 year experience with children.
  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 2 years’ experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 3 years of experience with children.
  • An associate’s degree from an accredited college or university, including 30 credit hours in early childhood education, child development, special education, elementary education or the human service field and 4 years of experience with children.
  • Appropriate clearances and trainings: PA State Criminal History Record, Child Abuse Report, FBI Criminal History Report, and Mandated Reporter Training. Clearances must be kept current.
  • CPR Certification
  • Physical done within one year prior to start date
  • TB test within three months prior to start date
  • Ability to lift up to 40 pounds on a regular basis
  • Sitting, standing, walking, bending and stopping for long periods of time up to eight hours per day

Responsibilities

  • Track parent payments and maintain contact with Business Manager and Accounts Receivable Specialist regarding payment history and account balances.
  • Enroll new families and maintain updated files on children.
  • Provide families with information and assistance with community resources.
  • Work with Chief Finance Officer to meet center budget.
  • Attend Directors’ Meetings regularly to stay updated.
  • Participate fully in any fundraising activities given to the center.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Child Care Program Manager, Director of Early Learning and/or Chief Executive Officer.
  • Ensure quality of care is excellent and families are well taken care of.
  • Maintain a positive rapport with families, children and staff at all times.
  • Oversee content of lesson plans for all age groups.
  • Responsible for the arrangement, appearance, décor and learning environment of the classroom and its learning centers.
  • Establish and execute policies and procedures that ensure the well-being of children, such as: Developmentally appropriate curriculum, Positive behavior management plans, Safe arrival and departure.
  • Assist with general housekeeping tasks.
  • Clean bathroom, kitchen and laundry areas as needed.
  • Take out garbage as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate staff ratios with consideration for quality of care and payroll costs.
  • Follow all Department of Human Services Regulations at all times with no exceptions.
  • Ensure preschool content is consistent with other locations (with guidance from the Child Care Program Manager and Director of Early Learning).
  • Inform staff of licensure requirements and policy changes through regular staff meetings.
  • Meet or exceed training requirements for center director as specified by NAEYC and Keystone STARS.
  • Oversee participation in NAEYC and/or Keystone STARS grant program.
  • Know the number and names of all children in your group at all times while in ratio.
  • Report cases of suspected child abuse/neglect according to PA State Law.
  • Work with the Recruiter and Onboarding Specialist to staff center appropriately.
  • Train new staff as they begin.
  • Follow new staff hires with a 90-day review and 6-month review meeting moving to annual review based on anniversary date.
  • Locate appropriate training opportunities and make accommodations for staff to attend.
  • Work with the HR Department on disciplinary issues when necessary.
  • Notify Human Resources Coordinator of any changes in staff and/or their positions and hours.
  • Oversee training/professional development of staff.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy, safe and fun working environment.
  • Provide support to staff and maintain employee confidentiality.
  • Supervise all activities to ensure safety at all times.
