This is a part-time, non-benefited position. Only UND students are eligible to be hired in this position. The position may continue into the academic year, if agreed upon. The role involves assisting in the implementation of planned activities that promote growth in all developmental domains, setting a positive example of how learning is fun, and assisting children with activities to further their growth and development. It also includes assisting with the set-up and clean-up of activities, maintaining strict confidentiality, and promoting a positive and friendly atmosphere to families and individuals. The assistant will be a positive role model of professionalism and become knowledgeable of and carry out the University Children’s Learning Center policies and goals. The role requires working closely with teachers to create a close, caring, respectful relationship with each child’s family, and assisting in the preparation of a rich, stimulating, learning environment. This may require moving and carrying furniture, lifting 30 lb. bags of sand or rice, and carrying outdoor equipment. The position also involves assisting in providing a healthy and safe environment, requiring agility and strength, and assisting in maintaining the daily routine that meets children’s needs for rest, nutrition, quiet and active play, both in and outdoors.
