About The Position
The Assistant Teacher supports the Classroom Teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment for preschool-aged children. This role assists with daily classroom activities, supervision, and implementation of developmentally appropriate curriculum while promoting children’s social-emotional growth and independence. The Assistant Teacher helps maintain classroom routines, supports family relationships, and ensures a clean, organized, and compliant learning environment.
Requirements
- Minimum of High School Diploma or equivalent
- Working towards a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential is encouraged within the first two years of employment
Responsibilities
- Supervise children and maintain a safe, clean environment
- Follow health, hygiene, and safety procedures
- Support positive behavior and interactions
- Encourage inclusion and emotional development
- Assist with learning activities and lesson plans
- Support play, language, and skill development
- Help maintain daily schedules and transitions
- Communicate with families and share updates
- Build positive, professional relationships
- Work as part of a team
- Attend trainings and follow policies
- Assist with documentation and child records
- Follow reporting requirements
- Communicate clearly with staff and families
- Stay updated on program information
