About The Position

The Childcare and Events Coordinator assists the Area Activities Manager with planning, implementing, and overseeing programs and activities for youth, adults, families, and the community. This role includes managing programs like Kids in Motion, Childcare, Parents Night/Day Out, Summer Camps, and Birthday Parties. The coordinator also assists the Director with hiring and training new childcare and events team members, motivating and coaching the current team, ensuring shift fulfillment and coverage for emergency call-ins, and working towards monthly department goals. Responsibilities include completing daily/weekly sales, attendance, and inventory reports. The role serves as the primary director for all children-focused activities and family programs, directly supervising the Childcare Department, ensuring policies and procedures are followed, and that exceptional customer service is provided. This position involves developing and promoting new events and programs, maintaining active communication with various club locations and personnel, and contributing to team and company efforts through excellent customer service and continuous learning.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the health, fitness, recreation, and/or club environment, and/or two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • Experience with multi-unit/multi-store customer service.
  • Prior experience with children, preferably in a Childcare setting involving programs, activities, etc.
  • Above average/intermediate computer skills (i.e., familiarity with Word, Excel, Publisher, internet, and email applications).
  • Above average writing, spelling, and math skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, with the ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Work quality must be highly accurate, timely, and in accordance with company policy and procedures with a high regard and propensity for safety.
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through skills and ability to maintain focus in a sometimes hectic and evolving environment.
  • Must demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and ability to work well with all parties.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Current CPR or ability to pass CPR certification within 60 days of hire date.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company meetings and based on business needs.
  • Passion for fitness/health/wellness industry.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience, education or training in child development preferred.
  • Health, fitness, recreation, and/or club environment experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary director for all children-focused activities and family programs.
  • Directly supervise the Childcare Department, including delivery and documentation of coaching and disciplinary warnings.
  • Ensure the Childcare Department runs smoothly and efficiently, that policies and procedures are followed daily, and that the team provides exceptional customer service.
  • Provide the monthly schedule for the CC/KIM team, ensuring all shifts are covered, calculating current and anticipated payroll per budget requirements, and managing shift change requests and call-ins.
  • Staff all events and programs with quality personnel.
  • Develop and promote new events, programs, and leagues in collaboration with the Area Childcare & Program Director.
  • Ensure the quality of the team by hiring, training, evaluating, coaching, scheduling, ensuring shift fulfillment, and disciplining as needed.
  • Prepare reports for the Area Activities Manager.
  • Conduct team meetings with the Events, Childcare, and KIM team.
  • Maintain active communication with Directors/supervisors at each club location, as well as with instructors, club team, and members.
  • Contribute to team and company effort by accomplishing related tasks as needed.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all members and departments.
  • Maintain professional and technical knowledge by staying current with industry trends and networking with vendors, peers, and competitors.
  • Engage in continuing education daily through reading, listening to audio, watching videos, or attending industry-related seminars.
  • Continuously enforce and inform all Company team members of changes in policies, promotions, and programs by conducting team meetings and writing memos.
  • Resolve member and team member issues by researching policies and procedures and providing answers; report progress or resolutions to the Director of Operations and General Manager of the club with incident details.
  • Cross-train and be familiar with all areas of the Club.
  • Work effectively with other Department Heads and/or Directors by scheduling, preparing, and planning programs and club events.
  • Perform additional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Area Activities Manager and General Manager.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings as needed.
