About The Position

The Child and Youth Counsellor will be part of a multidisciplinary team offering crisis intervention and multidisciplinary assessments for children and adolescents with complex and severe mental health issues within the MH PSU programs. Requirements

  • Vulnerable Sector Check (Essential)
  • Graduate of a three-year community college program in Child and Youth Counselling (Essential)
  • Eligible for certified membership in the Ontario Association of Child and Youth Counsellors (OACYC) (Essential)
  • Experience in paediatric psychiatry (Essential)
  • Certification in CPR and First Aid (Essential)
  • Demonstrated excellent team work and interpersonal skills (Essential)
  • Knowledge of mental health treatment modalities (Essential)

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingualism (French and English) (Preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Assess, plan, implement and evaluate the care for Program Patients and families.
  • Participate as a member of an interdisciplinary team.
  • Develop programming and activities for the inpatient unit and day treatment programs.
  • Offer support /counselling to individual patients and their families.
  • Provide appropriate learning experiences for the patient and family.
  • Offer mentoring experiences for students and new staff.
