Child Welfare Supervisor (Lafayette Region - Vermilion Parish)
About The Position
The Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS) is seeking a Child Welfare Supervisor for the Vermilion Parish Child Welfare Office in Abbeville, Louisiana. The incumbent will primarily exercise direct supervision over a unit of first-line Child Welfare Specialists and clerical/support staff, providing services within the Foster Care Program. This role is crucial in upholding the agency's mission to keep children safe, help individuals and families become self-sufficient, and provide refuge during disasters. Requirements
- Six years of experience in child welfare; OR Six years of full-time work experience in any field plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR A bachelor’s degree plus three years of experience in child welfare; OR An advanced degree in a social science or behavioral health field, nursing, or a juris doctorate plus two years of experience in child welfare.
- Every 30 semester hours earned from an accredited college or university will be credited as one year of experience towards the six years of full-time work experience in any field. The maximum substitution allowed is 120 semester hours which substitutes for a maximum of four years of experience in any field.
- Possession of a high school diploma or equivalent.
- A current driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.
- Must not have been convicted or pled nolo contendere to a crime listed in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).
Responsibilities
- Supervision of staff assigned to the unit.
- Locate placement resources.
- Accompanying workers in the field, home visits, and court appearances.
- Provide case consultation for workers.
- Respond to court orders/inquiries/requests from judges, attorneys, and other court personnel.
- Provide on-going training for staff.
- Create a positive environment that promotes productivity in a safe, comfortable, clean, and well-organized workplace.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
