Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record are required for this position.
  • A bachelor’s degree in human services or a field related to human services and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related human services experience; OR
  • A bachelor’s degree unrelated to human services and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency and two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services; OR
  • An associate degree and three years of human services related experience, two years of which must have included lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience; OR
  • An associate degree and completion of coursework equivalent to certification consistent with Oregon Caseworker Competency AND two years of lead work, supervision, or progressively related experience in human services.

  • Ability to observe and analyze the changing needs of clients, service delivery and resource requirements while leveraging internal and external resources and working collaboratively with other Districts and other Branches.
  • Identifying and implementing Child Welfare policy, procedures and processes specific to Child Protective Services practices through the Oregon Safety Model, including the Child Welfare Vision for Transformation.
  • Experience applying a trauma-informed approach to decision-making, problem-solving, and providing recommendations related to child safety and placement.
  • Experience managing high-pressure, fast-paced work environments while maintaining composure and providing reassurance to staff.
  • Experience performing data and metric analysis while translating these data points to staff to inform practice improvements.
  • An understanding of the basic principles and values of clinical supervision and trauma-informed coaching and mentoring. This includes reflective supervision, self-awareness, restorative accountability, and clear communication, both on an in person basis and in written communication.
  • Bilingual in Spanish and English.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise staff hiring, training, performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, and resolve complaints.
  • Collaborate with state agencies and community partners to coordinate services, maintain beneficial relationships, and participate in district planning and special projects.
  • Oversee staff members who directly serve children and families, ensuring that our mission is carried out with excellence.
  • Play a crucial role in providing training, guidance, and support to ensure that our programs meet the highest standards of quality, safety, and permanency for children.
  • Be responsible for maintaining strong relationships with community partners, children, and families, while also making critical decisions about the services provided to our clients.
  • Oversee service delivery strategies, ensure service continuity, assess client needs, and allocate personnel and resources accordingly.
