The Georgia Department of Human Services (DHS), Division of Family & Children Services (DFCS is seeking applicants for the position of County Director 3, Child Welfare Services. This position is located in Kingsland, Camden County, Georgia.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND Three (3) years of subordinate management experience in a human service delivery program.
Bachelor's degree in a related area from an accredited college or university AND one (1) year of experience at the lower level County Director 2, Child Welfare Svcs (SSM071) or position equivalent.
Related qualifications include social work and behavioral science degrees, including but not limited to the following: social science, psychology, sociology, child development, family studies, criminal justice, education, public health and public administration.
Related experience include the provision of services in a social services environment.
Must have reliable transportation, proof of auto insurance, a valid state-issued driver’s license and an acceptable driving history record.

Nice To Haves

Three (3) or more years supervising supervisors & lower-level managers experience with DFCS or comparable child welfare agency managing Child Protective Services (CPS), Foster Care and/or Adoptions.

Responsibilities

Oversees Child Welfare Services and administrative operations of a Class 3 County DFCS office.
Leads the administration of policies and programs designed to protect and protect children and families.
Ensures mandated services with priority of child safety and service provision to children and families.
Directs subordinate supervisors and staff.
Assures agency compliance with policies, appropriate documentation, and reporting requirements.
Builds and encourages a cooperative team-oriented environment within unit(s) and with other agencies and providers.
Creates and maintains positive working relationships within the community and on the county DFCS Board.
Develop and administers budgets.
Facilitates communication within the unit(s)/agency on a specific case level as well as on a procedure/policy level.
Interviews, hires, directs, trains, evaluates the performance of, and when necessary, disciplines and discharges social services employees.
Leads and administers a comprehensive system of public assistance, employability, and social services.
Manages human resources and directs administrative activities for groups of social services employees.
Plans, administers, and maintains the operation of social services programs.
Reviews new and current programs to determine their efficiency, effectiveness, and compliance with state, local and federal regulations.
