About The Position

Minnesota State Mankato's Department of Social Work's Child Welfare Stipend Program (CWP) aims to prepare graduates at the BSSW and MSW level to work in public or tribal child welfare agencies across Minnesota. The program provides financial support to students each semester and tracks their progress. The Child Welfare Program Student Support Coordinator is a twelve-month position responsible for implementing the federal and state funded MSW and BSSW Title IV-E Child Welfare Program Training contract awarded by the Minnesota Department of Human Services. This role involves budget and report management, maintaining a data management program, coordinating marketing and web-based/social media activities, supporting recruitment and retention of stipend recipients, monitoring student academic progress and post-graduation employment payback, and coordinating child and family related training and programs.

Requirements

  • Social Work masters degree from an accredited social work program.
  • Licensed or license-eligible as LGSW or higher.
  • Ability to travel, including overnight travel.
  • Valid, applicable driver’s license, as well as a DVS records check with an acceptable rating.
  • Passing background check under Minnesota Statutes 299C.60 to 299C.64 – Minnesota Child Protection Background Check Act.
  • Ability to pass applicable background check throughout employment.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the annual Child Welfare Stipend Program contract proposals, renewal processes and annual program reports and evaluations.
  • Maintain a data management program and related reports.
  • Coordinate the Child Welfare Program's marketing and web-based/social media activities.
  • Support recruitment and retention of child welfare stipend recipients.
  • Provide support to and monitor student stipend recipients in the completion of all in-program and post-graduation related activities and documents.
  • Monitor student's academic progress and post-graduation employment payback progress through Department of Social Works' student management database.
  • Provide support for and coordination of child and family related training and programs on campus and in the community.
