About The Position

Minnesota State Mankato's Department of Social Work's Child Welfare Stipend Program (CWP) began in Spring 2005 with the BSSW Program, initially as a subcontract with the U of M School of Social Work's Center for Advanced Studies in Child Welfare (CASCW). In FY13, the MSW program established a direct contract with the Minnesota Department of Human Services (Mn DHS) for a graduate child welfare stipend program. By 2014, the BSSW program transitioned its CWP from a subcontract to a combined program under the direct responsibility of the Department of Social Work, encompassing all contractual obligations, including tracking graduates for up to three years post-graduation. The primary goal of the CWP is to prepare graduates at both the BSSW and MSW levels for careers in public or tribal child welfare agencies throughout Minnesota. The program provides financial support to students each semester and tracks and supports them throughout their studies. The Child Welfare Program Student Support Coordinator is a twelve-month, full-time position responsible for implementing the federal and state-funded MSW and BSSW Title IV-E Child Welfare Program Training contract awarded by Mn DHS.
