About The Position

The Child Watch Attendant will promote the highest quality service in the care of the children of the YMCA’s members and participants. This position will also provide oversight and development of this service to further the association’s mission.

Requirements

  • One to two years related experience preferred.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include: completion of: Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in establishing and maintaining a safe and healthful environment
  • Assists in maintaining efficient, well-arranged areas.
  • Keeps equipment and materials in good repair and stored in a safe, orderly fashion.
  • Cleans and sanitizes toys weekly and other times as needed.
  • Helps with maintaining cleanliness of participation areas (washes tables before and after snack, sweeps floor, cleans up any spills promptly, etc.)
  • Assists in providing materials and activities appropriate for the children.
  • Assists in supporting children’s social-emotional development and providing positive guidance.
  • Assists children as needed and appropriate phases of self-help training (dressing, toileting, handwashing, eating, etc).
  • Utilizes appropriate group management techniques.
  • Encourages daily health routines with children such as hand washing.
  • Provides adequate supervision ensuring the safety of active children and engaging in those activities.
  • Assists in establishing positive and productive communication with families:
  • Assists in maintaining contact with parents through verbal and written communication, posted information, etc.
  • Speaks with families in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner.
