Provides direction for the program and classroom, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on the YMCA values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. This role involves implementing curriculum, designing and implementing daily lesson/activity plans, supervising children and classroom activities, making ongoing observations and evaluations of each child, conducting parent conferences, maintaining positive relationships and effective communication with parents, engaging parents as volunteers, maintaining program site and equipment, maintaining required program records, and attending/participating in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. The position aims to promote the physical, intellectual, social, cultural, and emotional well-being of the children. It also involves working with the staff team to plan and implement activities, providing direct leadership to assigned groups, maintaining constant visual contact with all assigned children, participating in daily activities, aiding children in completing tasks, assisting in assessing child abilities and developmental stages, building enthusiasm for activities and programs, completing required documentation, keeping program areas neat and organized, following all safety procedures and regulating agency/YMCA childcare policies, maintaining positive relationships with children, parents, and staff, projecting a positive image of the YMCA, following work site requirements, carrying out tasks assigned by the Site or Program Director, assisting in program and YMCA recruitment and special events, and working YMCA Camp Days and alternate program locations as scheduled.
