About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Appropriate activities should be providing for growth in skills, self-awareness, group relations, and character development. By conducting him/herself in a caring, responsible, honest, and respectful manner, this position is a role model for children and adults.

Requirements

Must be at least 16 years old
Knowledge of child growth and development
Dedication to the pursuit of education (for self and children)
Excitement and positive attitude toward working with children and families
A strong sense of maturity and responsibility
CPR/First Aid and Child Abuse Prevention Certifications within 30 days of hire

Nice To Haves

Previous experience providing classes/programs/activities for youth a plus

Responsibilities

Keep safety of children as a first priority-with emphasis on an atmosphere that is family friendly, age-appropriate, inclusive, and conductive to a quality driven environment.
Provide a warm flexible, engaging environment for children and families.
Supervise children and assume accountability for all children in care.
Maintain a clean, safe and orderly environment at all times.
Maintain daily attendance records.
Works as a team player, supporting co-workers and supports the mission of the YMCA in the community.
Knows and abides by YMCA policies, facility policies, accident/incident reports, code of conduct, etc.
Arrive to work on time and in proper attire.
Attend all YMCA staff meetings, Departmental meetings and staff trainings as assigned.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
