About The Position

The Child Watch Attendant provides a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while their parents use the YMCA facilities. This part-time position is based at the Gordon Family YMCA in Sumner, Washington, and offers up to 25 hours per week. The posted wage is $17.13 per hour; compensation is determined by relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, with most new hires starting between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range.

Requirements

• Be at least 15 years old.
• Be comfortable and confident working with children.
• Demonstrate a positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Pass background and reference checks in accordance with the Washington State Fair Chance Act.
• Value and promote diversity and contribute to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Be able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day, as well as other online and in-person training as required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of related experience.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Care for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years.
• Monitor the drop-off and pick-up of children.
• Play actively with children, adapting activities to their needs.
• Communicate with parents regarding their children's behavior and safety.
• Help maintain cleanliness and order in the child watch area.
