About The Position

The Child Watch Attendant ensures a safe, caring, and fun learning environment for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years while their parents use YMCA facilities. This is a part-time position at the Pearl Street Family YMCA in Tacoma, Washington, with up to 25 hours per week. The posted wage is $17.13 per hour; compensation is determined by relevant experience, skills, and qualifications, and most new hires start between the minimum and midpoint of the posted wage range.

Requirements

• Must be at least 15 years of age.
• Comfort and confidence working with children.
• Demonstrated positive attitude and professional demeanor.
• Must pass background and reference checks in accordance with the Washington State Fair Chance Act.
• Commitment to valuing and promoting diversity and contributing to an inclusive working and learning environment.
• Must be able and willing to complete online Child Abuse Prevention training on the first day and other online and in-person training as required.

Nice To Haves

• Six months or more of related experience.
• Current CPR, First Aid, and AED certifications.

Responsibilities

• Care for children ages 6 weeks to 7 years.
• Monitor children’s drop-off and pick-up.
• Play actively with children, adapting activities to their needs.
• Communicate with parents regarding their children’s behavior and safety.
• Help maintain cleanliness and order in the child watch area.
