Child Watch Associate
About The Position
The Child Watch Associate provides a safe and caring environment for children while they are in YMCA care. The associate engages positively with parents and children to further the mission of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. This is a part-time position at the West Chester Area YMCA in West Chester, Pennsylvania, with a salary range of $13.50–$15.00 per hour. The job shift is listed as “Any.” The YMCA of Greater Brandywine is a nonprofit association of nine YMCAs serving Chester County. Its mission is to nurture every child’s potential, promote healthy living, and foster social responsibility through life-changing programs.
Requirements
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
- Obtain and maintain all additional new-hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire.
- Be able to see and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility, with reasonable accommodations available as needed.

- Experience with children is preferred.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and whereabouts of children in the group at all times and provide a safe, interactive program.
- Maintain a clean, risk-free room arrangement.
- Maintain records, including accident and incident reports, sign-in/out sheets, and attendance records.
- Greet parents and children daily by name.
- Report parental concerns to a supervisor or direct parents to the supervisor.
- Use positive, age-appropriate behavior management tools, including redirection and positive reinforcement, and use the Y voice at all times.
- Ensure compliance with YMCA of Greater Brandywine policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
