About The Position

We are seeking a compassionate, qualified Child Therapist to provide therapeutic support to children and adolescents experiencing emotional and behavioral challenges. The ideal candidate will be experienced in using age-appropriate therapeutic techniques to help young clients process trauma, improve coping skills, and support their mental and emotional growth.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or a related field.
  • Licensure (e.g., LCSW, LMFT, LPC) in Virginia.
  • Minimum of 1–2 years of experience working with children and families in a clinical setting.
  • Excellent communication, empathy, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to build trust and rapport with children of varying ages, socioeconomic backgrounds, and developmental stages.

Nice To Haves

  • Specialized training or certification in child/adolescent therapy (e.g., play therapy, CBT, trauma-focused therapy) is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct psychological assessments and evaluations to understand the mental health needs of children.
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices.
  • Provide individual therapy for children dealing with issues such as anxiety, depression, trauma, grief, ADHD, behavioral disorders, and family conflict.
  • Collaborate with families, caregivers, teachers, and other professionals to ensure coordinated care.
  • Educate parents and caregivers on strategies to support the child’s therapy goals at home and school.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with ethical and legal standards.
  • Monitor and evaluate client progress, adjusting treatment plans as necessary.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings, supervision, and ongoing professional development.
