About The Position

Implement the district nutrition plan to include the development and analysis of menus, recipes, and food specifications through the integrated systems in the Child Nutrition Services Department. Oversee the promotion, social media, and education initiatives for the Child Nutrition Services Department. Adhere to federal and state laws, as well as district policies, procedures, and regulations.

Requirements

  • Associate's degree in nutrition, dietetics, business administration, home economics, or related field required
  • two (2) years of institutional food service experience, including experience in menu planning/analysis.
  • Proficient use of spreadsheet, word processing and other computer programs.
  • Valid Texas/New Mexico driver's license/ID card
  • subject to the district's drug and alcohol screening policy and regulation
  • must be insurable by the district's auto liability insurance carrier.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's degree preferred
  • valid Texas Department of Licensing and Regulation (TLDR) dietician license preferred

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate, analyze, implement, and train child nutrition staff in menu and recipe preparing functions, assuring nutritional content complies with applicable federal regulations and nutrition standards.
  • Develop cycle menus in accordance with nutritional requirements and budget limitations
  • Facilitate and organize informational meetings and training sessions on the subject of nutrition education, safety, and Hazard Analysis Critical Control Point (HAACP).
  • Routinely visit school cafeteria to coordinate, analyze, review and introduce new products.
  • Develop and implement marketing and merchandising of nutritious foods.
  • Coordinate school and community relations concerning nutritional programs, policies, and procedures.
  • Coordinate the summer school and Child and Adult Care Feeding Programs (CACFP).
  • Provide guidance and instruction to managers on menu planning and completion of production records.
  • Participate in professional development activities as required by the district.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals.
  • Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned.
